E-BORESU nº 12

The present study is an approach to the first 16th century poetry chapbook written around a terrific theme. It would be, therefore, the first so-called «dreadful and appalling event» printed in poetry. We can see that it is an ancient sample for its formal outline and its content, and it is presented as a mixture of oral and written poetry of the early 16th century. Furthermore, the reported events must had happened. Thus we are faced with one of the firsthand news on a horrific subject that was disseminated orally and written at the dawn of the second half of the 16th century.
