E-BORESU nº 12

According to the scarce attention that the field of Historical Linguistics has paid to the discursive tradition of the accounts of events, this study presents a linguistic characterization of one of these texts –written in 1624–with the aim of highlighting the phonetic, morphosynthactic and lexic features that assign this text to the Spanish spoken during the Golden Age period. This linguistic analysis asserts the accounts of events as a new documental source able to characterize the 16thand 17th Spanish language, which so far has been mostly studied from a literary approach.
