Fernando de Herrera used several contemporary Italian sources in order to write Relación de la guerra de Cipre y suceso de la batalla naval de Lepanto. These sources had not been identified untill nowadays, but thanks to them we can understand Herrera’s way of working and even the political use that he made of these Italian texts.
