In 1625 the Infanta María Eugenia was born, the third of the daughters of the marriage composed of King Felipe IV and Queen Isabel de Borbón. This girl, born on the twenty-first of November, was baptized in June 1626, with the festive pomp of a first-born infant, since her two older sisters had died shortly after birth. Thanks to the account of events by Antonio Ferrari, from that same year, we can know many of the details that took place on the day of the baptism of the little princess, including that her godparents were the Queen of Hungary, Doña María and the papal legacy, the Cardinal Barberini. In this work we will analyze the existing data on the baptism of the infanta, and we will try to examine the different elements of the protocol, typical of this type of ceremony.
