The generalization of the mediterranean piracy, the slavery and the conversions to Islam induce a new interest in the early modern literature for turks and moorish topics. This trend affects the news pamphlets, which inform, amuse and touch their public, creating a popular and propagandistic literature in the modern state. This literature stimulates the confessionalization process around a political and religious ideal in the fight between the Spanish Empire and their muslim enemies.

There are a lot of conversions types in the news pamphlets, although the purpose of this paper are the news pamphlets of female conversions, due to the women’s image in this kind of literature has been studied briefly. The works analyzed are eleven news pamphlets, whose edition dates range from 1584 to 1761, although the year of publication of two of them is unknown. This news pamphlets have been divided into two blocks differentiated by the reason for the conversion: love or miracle.
