The year 1621 was lavish in important events reflected in the relationships of events. The purpose of this International Seminar is to take advantage of the coincidence of the current year 21 with that of four centuries ago, which was rich in novelties (death of Philip III, execution of Prague, siege of La Rochelle, death of Paul V, conflict between the empire Ottoman and the Polish-Lithuanian confederation...), to try to give an overview of the information and information networks that integrates the maximum of European territories and languages and that, as far as possible, also covers the writings coming from other continents. The interest of concentrating only on one year is to privilege the notions of network, synchrony and geographic extension, in order to obtain a precise study of the information, as well as the means through which it is disseminated, in a limited period. The aim is thus to promote, although not exclusively, the works that present little-known relationships on the territories furthest from the European continent, those that add knowledge about the existence of news communication channels, those that make comparisons between the way in which they are presents a fact in a country and a specific language with respect to others or those that evaluate the hierarchy in the dissemination of information that exists in different places and territories.

The study days in which the works will be presented will take place in two places that constitute a crossroads in seventeenth-century Europe. This is the case of Seville, of course, as a starting and finishing point for all those who cross the Atlantic. And it is also the case, modestly, of Besançon, which, by land, allows the connection between Northern Europe and Mediterranean Europe.

Venue and dates: Besançon on September 16 and 17 and in Seville on October 18 and 19.
