This virtual symposium, organized by the Dept of Hispanic Languages and Literature (Stony Brook University), brought together faculty and students on Thursday, March 18 (2021) from 10:30 a.m. at 12.30 p.m. (New York time EST) for an open conversation about current research, group work, and projects related to “Early Modern News-Sheets and the Hispanic World”. The conversation, in Spanish or English, had the format of a virtual round table through Zoom.
Invited faculty and students currently working in areas related to Early Modern printed culture, media and news-sheets production and circulation in Ibero-America shared their research, discussed ideas and future projects.
The event was free and open to the public.

10:30: Welcome and brief “introduction” (Paul, 3 minutes)
10:35: Informal brief presentations (all invited participants, about 1 minute each)
10:47: Block 1. Changes in the last decades in Hispanic Early Modern studies.
11:00: Block 2. Methods and case studies: local and Pan-European, Transatlantic, Interamerican scenarios / Printers and print shops and their agents. Pamphlets vs. books.
11:30: Break (5 ')
11:35: Block 3. Philology today. Modern editions of news-sheets and relaciones de sucesos / Digital reading, data mining, network visualizations.
11:55: Block 4. Censorship structure in books and printed news. / Transoceanic scenarios.
12:10: Block 5. Projects and final comments.
