E-BORESU nº 13

The aim of this study is to analyze the adjectivization in a corpus ad hoc of twenty-five accounts of extraordinary events. These documents –from which current press will develop– were ephemeral texts with a triple purpose –«inform, entertain and move the recipient» (Pena Sueiro 2001: 43). They have hitherto been extensively studied from a historical, journalistic and literary viewpoint, but so far they have not been deeply analyzed from a Historical linguistics perspective. Nevertheless, studies in this discipline have began to appear in recent years (Borreguero & Octavio de Toledo y Huerta 2003, 2006a, 2006b, Tabernero 2014, Fernández Alcaide & Leal Abad 2016, Sáez Rivera 2018; Iraceburu Jiménez 2018, 2019a, 2019b, 2020, 2021a, 2021b, 2021c, 2022, 2023). Based on the analysis of the present adjectives in the selected accounts of events this study will try to shed new light on the own linguistic features that would constitute the discursive tradition of the accounts of events (Iraceburu Jiménez 2018).
