In 1624, a political-economic conflict among merchants, authorities of Mexico City, the Royal Court, the Archbishop, and the viceroy of New Spain ended with the overthrow of the last one. The story appears in a handwritten, anonymous, and unpublished «relation of events» in the Vatican Apostolic Library. On this occasion, this document is studied to know how this type of writings, considered as news, was elaborated in the Baroque, as well as the context in which it was written and what is the content that was reported to the authorities of Rome, secretly, around the famous episode.
